□ Name: Roxas
□ Journal:
faints
□ Series: Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (Manga)
□ Canon point: Beginning of Day 24
□ History: Here!
□ Personality:
Roxas is at this point, still very young and getting trying to figure out both himself and the world around him. While the first seven of his days were spent in a perpetual haze where he was only able to retain his name and number, from day 8 onward this begins to change. Rather than wonder too much about what he's told Roxas initially accepts what he's told with little thought. He's blunt and simple in his observations and often lets a lot of what's said go over his head without thinking on it much. But as he continues to go on missions and interact with the various members of the Organization Roxas slowly develops the ability to recognize individual characteristics and develop enough understanding to begin questioning what he's heard. His general understanding of most things continues to be lacking but slowly he begins to develop the groundwork he needs to build up and form a sense of self.
By day 24 Roxas knows precious few things about himself other than he works for the Organization, whose goal is to complete Kingdom Hearts so that they may join with it and be grants Hearts of their own. His duty is to destroy Heartless to collect Hearts and accomplish this goal. He doesn't know what a Heart is nor does he possess the "flexible thinking" (as Axel puts it) to be creative and work loopholes into what he's told. When Roxas is told "go to x world and kill x number of Heartless" he'll perform it just as he's told. It wouldn't occur to him that he could choose not to perform the mission or that he could take his time or go on a side-trip. If something of importance turned up in the mission (like a mysterious person), Roxas at this point would notice but wouldn't think to follow or investigate.
Routine is a big part of Roxas' life at this point. For the most part he wakes up, reports for missions, goes on missions, follows orders, has ice cream, and returns. Deviation from this routine isn't something that's occurred to him yet (he continues to go and eat ice cream alone when Axel leaves for Castle Oblivion without really knowing why) but he's also adaptable. On Day 23 he's made to lead a mission rather than follow someone else on one and while initially surprised and puzzled, Roxas falls into the role easily enough. However due to Xion's lack of self and communication it doesn't occur to him until subsequent missions to reward her for her hard work with ice cream.
In short, Roxas is a lot like a canvas. The basic outline, or rough sketch is there but nothing's been filled out or coloured in yet. He still doesn't possess a Heart of his own nor does he show any inclination to like or dislike anyone. He's able to recognize peoples' attitudes towards things (like no one wanting to look after him) but he's still working on forming his own. He's honest not because he feels it's right but because he doesn't understand the usage or need to lie just yet. What he does however express at this time is a general dislike with the fact that he knows so little. A lot falls into the category of "you'll come to understand it eventually" and it can be frustrating for him. But he's also not the type to mope or mull over things too much at this point and tends to take a lot at face value.
He's got a simplistic way of viewing the world but he's eager to learn more and figures that, if everyone else wants a Heart so badly then it must be a good thing and he should want one too. He's not entirely gullible but so far he's had very little reason to doubt what's been told to him since his background knowledge is lacking. Roxas fights because he wants to know the true meaning of having a Heart, so he has the capacity to be driven and work towards a goal. At this point Roxas is also starting to learn that despite all members of Organization XIII are Nobodies and have individual differences, fundamentally he is separate than the others. When he tries to express concepts or ideas that occur to him he finds himself completely unable to relate to the other, more senior members (though this happens on day 26 rather than 24, it is close enough to his canon point to get a mention). Although he does not necessarily realize it Roxas shows signs that he feels alienated and cut off from the other members, save for Axel and Xion.
□ Age: 24 days old, physically 15
□ Gender: Male
□ Appearance: Right hurr
□ Abilities/Powers:
Keyblade:
A weapon Roxas is able to use thanks to being the Nobody of Sora, another Keyblade bearer. These weapons have the power to defeat Heartless, open and close the keyholes of worlds, and basically a whole fuckton of other stuff. Roxas however can only use his to defeat Heartless. Keyblades can change their shape and form depending on the Heart of their wielder, and can be summoned & dismissed at will.
Magic:
Roxas sucks at this. He has only learned Blizzard & Fire, and can't use them very well. At all, sob.
Misc:
In general Roxas tends to rely on strength rather than speed to defeat his opponents. He's not particularly practised or skilled since he's still learning, but he knows how to use the Keyblade as a one or two-handed sword. As a side note he possesses the potential to Sync Blade, or dual-wield Keyblades due to the fact that Ventus' Heart currently rests inside of him. He has not yet unlocked this at his current canon point though and having Ven's Heart offers him no extra added abilities, other than having changed Roxas' appearance to resemble the teen.

[Journal Entry #8]
Today I went to a new world for my mission but I think it's the wrong one. I couldn't find No. XIV anywhere and I couldn't RTC when I tried. I don't know what this means, I've never had trouble doing it before. My Keyblade won't come, either...
I wish Axel would come back. Even if he only left yesterday I know he'd be able to tell me what's going on. I don't understand anything anyone says here.
□ Third Person Sample:
Collect Hearts, collect hearts, collect hearts... That's what everyone kept telling him. He was special, because the Keyblade had chosen the person he'd been born from. And because of that he was invaluable to the Organization. He was the only one who could defeat the Heartless and collect all the Hearts needed to complete Kingdom Hearts. And if he did that he'd be given a Heart of his own and wouldn't be a Nobody. That was what he'd managed to piece together so far but he still felt that somehow he wasn't getting the full picture. "You'll understand once you have a Heart," or "that's something only people with Hearts would understand." He's got no idea what any of that means but if he could feel he supposes this would be where he feels...left out? Like even if the other members of the Organization don't understand they still somehow know more.
Maybe it's because they have memories of who they used to be, he thinks. It seemed like everyone but him had those. Did that make him strange? No one else seemed to really care except for telling him to "hurry and become useful." He could go on missions almost by himself now though. Did that make him useful? Technically it had only been one and he'd been the leader for No. XIV but he'd been able to finish it without too much trouble. Somehow he still got the feeling they didn't see him as on the same level.
Why were memories, or having a Heart so important? He didn't understand what made having one so special. He's not even sure what it means to feel something, but if he had one would he be able to enjoy the times he spent with Axel on the clock tower more? Since that's what normal friends did...
A frown comes to his face as he watches a small syrupy drop of ice cream fall from the tip of his treat. He doesn't really feel like eating it anymore. I already thought the time we spent together was better than the time we didn't... I like eating ice cream here with Axel. How would a Heart make it better?
Would the ice cream taste saltier or sweeter? Would the sunset be more vibrant, last longer? Would they laugh more? He isn't really sure. He's not even sure why he's thinking about all of this if he looks back on the last few minutes. Maybe it's because he wants a Heart without realizing it. Roxas can't help the way he sighs and looks out, into the sunset.
'You'll understand when you have a Heart'...I guess.
